Planning a wedding is supposed to be magical, but for this bride, it mostly felt like she was stuck in the middle of constant arguments between two strong-willed moms. She and her husband had been together for three years before getting married last year. Their relationship was solid, but wedding planning brought out a lot of unexpected tension, with arguments over decor, table shapes, and all the little details no one remembers later.

But the real problem? Her mother-in-law's wardrobe plans.

Right from the start, the bride set one clear rule that guests could wear anything except white. She even encouraged bold and dramatic outfits. Still, her mother-in-law ignored this and kept sending photos of outfits she was thinking about. Every single one was white.

The bride tried subtle hints. Then less subtle hints. She asked her husband to intervene. She asked her own mom to intervene. She outright told her MIL not to wear white. Still, the photos kept coming.

Things got worse when an online order arrived while the bride was visiting. She expected another white dress, but it turned out to be an actual wedding dress. Luckily, it looked terrible in person and was thrown away, but the bride realized she needed a backup plan.

After talking to her sister and bridesmaids, they bought a bright yellow reflective construction vest and made it a group project at the bridal shower. Guests decorated it with glitter pens and Sharpies, adding messages like “How dare you show up in white” and “Are you the bride? I think not.”
The bride then announced a new rule: anyone who showed up in white, or in anything that looked like a wedding dress, would have to wear the jacket all day, even in photos. When someone asked if that would ruin the wedding pictures, she said it wouldn’t. She’d treat it like a trophy.
In the end, her mother-in-law showed up in an all-black, funeral-style outfit. The bride saw this as a win.
